Head of AML Department

About the Role
We're looking for an experienced Anti-Money Laundering (AML) Specialist to help shape and maintain our AML/CTF policies and procedures. In this role, you'll work closely with business teams, assess risk in new products, lead training initiatives, and ensure compliance with internal standards and regulatory requirements. You'll also collaborate across departments, contribute to audits and compliance projects, and help build a strong compliance culture across the bank.

Key Responsibilities
• Develop and regularly update AML/CTF policies and procedures in line with current regulatory requirements and best practices.
• Advise front office and relevant business units on AML/CTF matters.
• Lead and coordinate AML/CTF-related projects.
• Conduct Enhanced Due Diligence (EDD) reviews and validate KYC documentation provided by business units.
• Assess AML/CTF risks associated with new banking products.
• Deliver AML/CTF training and maintain the bank's training roadmap.
• Support senior management with ad-hoc compliance tasks and initiatives.
• Perform risk-based monitoring under the Compliance Monitoring Program to ensure regulatory and internal policy compliance.
• Participate in regulatory audits and coordinate responses with internal and external stakeholders.
• Provide guidance on exception cases, payment errors, customer requests, and due diligence questionnaires.
• Oversee regular KYC and AML/CTF reviews for clients, vendors, and affiliates.
• Support the implementation of changes driven by new legal or regulatory requirements.

Requirements
• Higher education in Law, Risk Management, Business Administration, or a related field. Relevant professional certifications (e.g., CAMS, FRM, CPA, ACCA) are a strong plus.
• Experience in regulatory consulting and implementing compliance process changes in response to legal or operational updates.
• Background in retail banking is preferred.
• Solid understanding of AML/CTF regulations and international standards.
• 3–5 years of relevant experience in AML/CTF, internal audit, banking operations, or internal controls within the financial sector.
